tokyo marui FA-MAS F1hi all. i was thinkin about gettin this gun, it looks good and from what ive read it sounds pretty good. what do you think?

If you look in the December issue of Airsoft International, they've done a full review on this gun. It has a fairly high rate of fire for a gun with an EG560 motor. I believe is uses a version 1 gearbox, and upgrade parts are hard to get hold of. It fires at a respectable 265-270fps, so probably best to leave it stock. It has a fairly high number of plastic parts, and the plastic is slightly more shiny than AEG's made by Marui since. You have to remember that the FAMAS was one of Marui's first AEG models, so things have moved on a long way since. That said, if you look after the gun, it will last you a long time, and they are a popular choice for skirmish sites as hire-guns. Magazines hold around 330 odd rounds. Because it is a bull-pup rifle, and feeds from the back, it has a fairly long barrel in it, so accuracy is fairly good too. I would recommend seeing if a skirmish site near you has one to try out first.

thanks. ill keep that in mind. ive always loved the FA-MAS design so i thought id get the airsoft version.
come to think of it, would AEG would you recommend?

Have you not read my beginners guide?  It all depends on what style of play you are planning on. Woodland, or Urban. The G36c is a good all-rounder, an M4 (not an early revision - plastic receiver lugs!) an MC-51 with a solid stock on (I've got one of those) they make a very good woodland or urban gun... Or my new favourite, the M14, which although is HUGE, I still play urban as a counter-sniper.

Urban play is otherwise known as CQB (Close Quarter Combat), or otherwise, fighting in built up areas, you know, house to house combat. There are a number of skirmish sites in the UK designed for it.

lol cool. i was at a skirmish site a few weeks back. was great fun  little expensive though.
