Hi

I'm new to Airsoft, and I have just purchased a G36c, and now looking to buy a pistol in the next month or so.

I'm looking for suggestions on what pistol to buy and what to avoid. Also as the purchase may be 2nd hand, it may be useful in what prices you think I should pay for a particular model.

Thanks

hmmmmmmmm depends...

some would argue going for the TM Electric Glock26 - good pistol with nearly the range of an electric rifle...

Me - I love my Gas HFC Dark Hawk, yeah it's a little more finicky in colder weather, but it's still a good side arm

Sierra Lucas loves his Glock 17 Gas Blow Back... so the filed is open for debate...

You'll be meaning the TM Glock 18C Electric then Stormbringer Smile

Zordon, depends on what you're looking for. I would stay well clear of KSC stuff, i've had loads of problems. What about a Marui Sig P226. I've got one here i'll be reviewing very soon. Marui are also bringing out the Glock 17 GBB which will be VERY good, that comes out in the next month or so. Priced at around £100 me thinks - i'll be sure to grab one for review.

The HFC Dark Hawk, thats a full metal gun isn't it? Looks nice is it not quite heavy?

Just read a review for the Marui Sig P226 nice, will be interested in your review 4dEFCON.

1 question, apart from it looking the part is there any practical advantages for a metal slide as the Sig P226 does not have one?

I have just given up smoking (temper already going and its only been one day), if i make it smoke free until December 9th (my birthday) then i will spend up to £100. I i fail then will wait until after xmas, and probably look for a 2nd hand purchase.

A metal slide and spring guide will make the using of green or more powerful gas in your gun less unhealthy for it... but other than making it look and feel good, I wouldn't bother. The SIG P226 has plastic slide rails, so a metal slide on it's own wouldn't be worth it, i'd go for the full metal body kit if you were going to invest... but like I said, in my opinion, doesn't make the gun any more functional.

The Sig 226 as it is, is a very good gun. But i'm anticpating the Marui Glock 17 to be a winner all round - should be a very robust gun indeed.

Well i have settled on the Marui Sig P226, My brother offered to buy me one for Xmas and my Birthday, i turned him down on the offer, but have a suspicion he is going to buy me it anyway. I asked him to buy me a holster and spare mag.

Yeh I'm starting airsoft soon (I was saying that this time last year, but I've been saving all my money for my first motorbike.) And when I do finally get around to it, I'll probably be going for an SAS type load out, so Im choosing between an M16A2 (CA or TM, still undecided.) or a G36c (Gotta be CA).
Also I'll buy an MP5 (Yet again CA) and when I got around to my pistol I'd be looking at either the TM Sig P226 or the Browning obviously, anyhow whatever pistol I do eventually decide on, you can be sure It will be upgraded to tha max.
If I opt for tha P226, Then I'll slap on a full metal bodykit, high flow valve, 190% hammer spring, 150% recoil spring guide with bearing, TN barrel and all tha neccerscery tactital extra's such as a silencer, undermounted laser, extra magazines ect, But as you can tell, this will cost a bomb (I estimate between £400-£450)
And let me tell you I aint nowhere near rich, but I just cannot do without tha best.
But It is nescercery, If u wish to upgrade tha internals of a stock gun be it a gas pistol or an AEG, you need to make sure that tha gun can handle tha stress, and a plastic frame is not adeqeute for a high flow valve, and tha excess weight of tha metal slide is needed to retain balance.
But as you speak of this shoe string budget, I would also recomend tha TM Beretta M92fs Tactical Master which fires around 280fps, with a 25+1 magazine, and weighs 790g, all for roughly £110. Just checkout http://www.wolfarmouries.co.uk
