I am thinking of buying a spring pistol as a backup weapon, and want some advice.
Has anyone got one that they recommend? I don't want to be spending £100 on something that I may use once a day, so a £30 pistol would be ideal.
I like the look of the Ruger P85 and the Marui CZ75 but obviously am open to suggestions. Any advice on these or others would be welcome!

I know alot about airsot, Though I've never actually played, And
I own absoloutly no kit, But If theres one thing I do have experience with, its springers.
I've owned 5 spring guns in my time, tha cheapest 2 are'nt even worth mentioning.
I bought a £45 Sig P228, which shot at .4 J but felt like a lot more, It was well built for tha price, And smooth to cock, Tha problem being tha shoddy paint and obvious plastic feel.
Then I bought a KWC Desert Eagle 50.AE for £80, It was heavy weight ABS, with an abundance of metal parts, including tha magazine, .5 J, Sounded a nice pop, a bit Stiff to Cock and even had adjustable hop-up! Tha Lenth of tha barrel added range and It was quite accurate, But at times tha hop up was a bit of a flaw and this gun was prone to misfeeds.
My Last purchase was of a £70 KWC Colt National Match yet again HW ABS, Lots of metal, 5 J, Nice pop, Smooth action, Non adjustable hop-up, But after a while tha sights and stuff came loose and eventualy broke off.
At tha time these were nice to have, they had tha looks, For tha most part tha feel, And they certainaly performed, But tha one thing about springers is...
Pow...chk chk...Pow...chk chk... Pow: U have to cock for every shot, And this becomes tiring and boring after a short while, Also it tampers with tha accuracy of ur shots, If ur pinned down, And u need to hit ur target fast, He has an aeg or gbb, Ur done for.
Basically, They really just are'nt suitable for skirmishes, If anything for tha sake of accuracy, U might as well buy a cheap shotgun, Springers don't even last. JUST DON'T BOTHER. _________________ I came here today with only two intentions:

Barkley, I know what you want it for... if you're REALLY going to go down that route, then a Marui Glock 17 springer (£35), very robust and will do the job. With 0.2g ammo you'll get pants range and velocity though.
Of course, you could enter this months Xmas comp and win a GBB! |

Thanks for the advice MacKaliba. I already have an AEG, so the pistol really is only a backup weapon. I won't use it for anything other than emergencies, hence the cocking issue isn't an issue!
I therefore don't want to spend more than £30 ish on it, as I won't get the use out of an £80 pistol.
Thanks again for your opinions! |
